The first National Marine Park established in Greece with the aim to protect the critical nesting habitat of the endangered loggerhead sea turtles Caretta caretta, in Zakynthos and to promote sustainable development for the Park's area.

The National Marine Park of Zakynthos is the first of its kind in Greece comprising of a Management Body.
